New streamlined process for 501(c)(3) applications

With all the drama in D.C. centered around the Lois Lerner lost email/computer crash scandal, few people have noticed another major change that has occurred in the IRS Exempt Organization Division. 

That change is the implementation of a shorter and easier application form that is supposed to streamline what some might have considered a more cumbersome process of obtaining an organization’s 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. 

That new form is the Form 1023-EZ, Streamlined Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
